Traffic Demand Management Tools in Small and Medium-Sized Cities

Original scientific paper

DOI: 10.7251/JTTTP2002064G

Abstract

The function of the public urban and suburban passenger transport (PUPT) system as a trans- port activity is to provide transportation services in a certain urban area. By using new solutions in traffic demand management in small and medium-sized cities, which do not have an efficient PUPT system, in combination with paratransit systems, we can significantly increase the combined mobility of the population, reduce the use of passenger cars, reduce the need to build new roads, and take full advantage of the PUPT system. This paper presents the traffic demand management tools by which these effects can be achieved.

Keywords : Public urban passenger transport system, tools, management, transportation demands.

Application of Artificial Intelligence Methods for the Prediction of Hazardous Failures

Original scientific paper

Abstract

The availability of real-time data on the state of railway facilities and the state-of-the art technologies for data collection and analysis allow transition to the fourth generation maintenance. It is based on the prediction of the facility functional safety and dependability and the risk-oriented facility management. The article describes an approach to assessing the risks of hazardous facility failures using the latest digital data processing methods. The implementation of this approach will help set maintenance objectives and contribute to the efficient use of resources and the reduction of railway facility managers’ expenditures.
